Ekiti Chief Judge is accusing Fayose wrongly; PDP tells NJC

As the National Judicial Council, NJC, is finding a way to resolve the political/judicial crisis in Ekiti State, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused Jutice Ayodeji Daramola, who is the state Chief Judge, of bias. The party said the Chief Judge is siding the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an attempt to prevent the Governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, from being sworn into office on October 16.
A release issued by PDP state Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, said the CJ deliberately amplified what happened in the state High Court, Ado-Ekiti last week Monday and Thursday, blaming it on Fayose and shutting down courts in the state to achieve pre-determined political agenda.
The PDP said: "The chief judge must face the truth and stop being bias in the interest of the sanctity of the judiciary."
Oluwawole, who said the fracas during court proceedings was not new in Nigeria, especially in political cases, cited instances of the tribunal in Ondo State that was disrupted on March 18, 2013, when supporters of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and Labour Party clashed, leaving four persons injured.
He also recalled the January 23, 2012, clash between supporters of PDP and ACN at the premises of the governorship election petition tribunal in Lokoja, Kogi State, during which one person was shot and three others injured.
The camp of Governor-Elect Fayose has thus called on the NJC to treat the Ekiti saga dispassionately.
